Ensure Access to Good Education for the Needy Girl Child

The girl child sponsorship program will enable about 1400 girl children studying at Vishwa Jagriti Mission’s Gyandeep Vidyalaya, Faridabad, to continue education with all facilities, including books, stationery, uniforms, and midday meals. The program will enable underprivileged girls to complete their school education (from nursery to class 8). It will allow them to attend school with dignity throughout the academic year. The program will also assist girl children at VJM’s Kaushal Vikas Kendra in learning vocational skills and being able to either find job opportunities or create a better tomorrow for themselves through entrepreneurship.

Objective of Sponsor a Girl Child Program

One of the key objectives of VJM’s Sponsor a Girl Child program is to encourage and support girls and women to pursue school education. And that will happen if we have enough resources for this noble cause. As a society, we have to come forward and invest in the education of such girls who cannot afford it, and when we do that, we witness a big impact on communities and society. Educated girls are less likely to marry early and lead healthy and productive lives. It also boosts the economy while minimizing inequity, ultimately leading to a healthier and more prosperous society.

Key Objectives

  • Motivate underprivileged families to send their girl children to school and vocational training centres
  • Give free education; distribute free uniforms, books, stationery, and bags
  • Nutritious mid-day meal
  • Increase attendance at the school

Project Sponsor a Girl Child is a participatory program where you can sponsor the education of a girl child for a minimum period of one year. For as little as INR 5000–15,000, you can support a girl studying in our schools and getting training at our skill development centre. As a sponsor, you will receive the photograph and profile of your Sponsor a Girl Child program, followed by periodic progress reports.

Your small contribution has the power to bring about better living circumstances for poor and marginalised children at VJM institutions.

At VJM, we’re committed to doing everything we can to protect India’s deprived children’s Right to Education. We engage with parents, volunteers, teachers, and communities to meet the essential needs of children.

The majority of the children adopted and supported by VJM have been saved from poverty, rag picking, child labour, and domestic violence. We wish to assist them in becoming self-sufficient and responsible citizens. With the help of donations, supporters, and volunteers, we support them morally, socially, and financially.

Join hands to provide better facilities for children.

A small investment in girls education is the least we can do to build a better society around ourselves. The importance of girls’ education is also recognised by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Government of India’s ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padho’ campaign is also in the same line.

We at VJM are also providing marginalised girls with the support they need to get quality education free of cost, and grow up to be well-educated, confident, and independent young women.

VJM is a prominent spiritual and social service organisation and one of India’s most trustworthy NGOs, founded in 1991 by HH Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj. It has worked tirelessly for over three decades to improve the lives of impoverished children and support them in enjoying their childhood. With the aid of donors and volunteers from India and overseas, the organisation is striving to address challenges such as a lack of education, healthcare, nutrition, and safety.

In India, VJM has established Ashrams, Primary and Secondary Schools, and Vocational Training Centers. These institutes provide free education to children in need.

With your support, we can continue our charitable programs more easily and even expand them to different parts of India.

Challenges Faced by Girl Child in Indian Society

  • 4.6 lakh girls were “missing” at birth each year from 2013 to 2017, as a result of sex selection that prefers a male child to a female child
  • Every year more than 1.5 million girls in India are married before they turn 18 (UN Report)
  • India is the only large country where more girls die than boys (UNICEF)
  • Girls are more likely to drop out of school (UNICEF)
  • Estimates suggest that each year, at least 1.5 million girls under 18 get married in India, which makes it home to the largest number of child brides in the world (UNICEF)
