Arrange nutritious food items for a small group of children for a day/week/month
Poverty is the leading source of suffering in India, affecting millions of people. Deprived children, unfortunately, are one of the groups that suffer the most critically due to poverty and its consequences.
According to a UNICEF-International Labour Organization (ILO) joint report, India consists of 30.3 percent of extremely poor children living across the world. Nearly 9.97 Crores children live in poverty-stricken conditions here. It makes our country home to the greatest number of disadvantaged children on Earth. This is unfortunate.
Rural children, slum children, urban poor families, marginalised groups, tribal communities, and many other disadvantaged groups suffer from a variety of poverty-related deprivations. Malnutrition, lack of access to basic health care, child marriage (India has the world’s highest number of child brides), illiteracy, poor school attendance, lack of sanitation, and access to safe water and nutritional food are just a few of these issues.
VJM is a prominent spiritual organisation and one of India’s most trustworthy charitable societies, founded in 1991 by HH Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj. It has worked tirelessly for over three decades to improve the lives of impoverished children and support them to enjoy their childhood.
With the aid of donors, salaried staff, and volunteers from India and overseas, the organisation is striving to address challenges such as lack of education, healthcare, nutrition, and safety.
In India, VJM has established Ashrams, Primary and Secondary Schools, and Vocational Training Centers. These institutes provide free education to children in need.
Free Education
VJM’s Bal Kalyan programmes focus on providing free and high-quality education to impoverished and marginalised children.
Nutrition
All schools and Ashrams in Delhi, Surat, Faridabad, Moradabad, and Jharkhand provide free and nutritious food to each child (about 5000 children at various VJM institutions).
Child Safety
Children stay at free shelters in a safe environment without any fear and stress.
Good Health
Regular health checkup and vaccination programmes (including COVID-19 vaccines) for each child.
If you have ‘hope,’ you will be motivated to continue forward and will be on the right track to achieving a brighter tomorrow. – HH Sudhanshuji Maharaj
Thanks to the support of kind-hearted people like you, we’ve transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of poor children over the years through our Bal Kalyan institutions. These institutions strive to provide needy children with all they need to grow in life, including hope.
Bal Ashram isn’t your average orphanage. It is a full-fledged school for impoverished children that provide high-quality education as well as free housing. There are many volunteers and salaried employees that teach and care for these children.
Bal Ashram began with 35 children in 2006 and today has over 80 children. Apart from getting a formal education, these children are also excelling in creative arts, sports, Yoga, religious, and social activities, including other extra-curricular activities.
Bal Ashram provides orphans, poor, and abandoned children with shelter, education, training, protection, food, clothes, and other basics of life.
Bal Ashram is taking care of such children in a loving family-like environment. Here, children are receiving education in the English medium so that they can compete in the modern world.
We are committed to transforming every student’s life on all levels, and to that end, we provide the following facilities to our students.

Established in the year 2002 in Delhi NCR’s Faridabad area, Gyandeep Vidyalaya is an eminent non-profit educational institution which aims to provide a promising future to the underprivileged children from ragpicker families and slum areas, especially girl children.
A non-profit unit of Vishwa Jagriti Mission that envisions a society where the innocence of any child is not marred by the horrors of child labour, illiteracy, ignorance, poverty, and hunger; a society where women’s wellbeing is paid attention to and they’re empowered enough to sustain themselves and their family.
Initially, there were 28 girls enrolled and currently 1100 girls are studying at the school. The school also teaches boys in the evening shift. About 300 boys are attending the school right now; a total of 1400 students were enrolled in the 2019-20 academic session and the number is growing.

Two schools are running in the ‘troubled’ areas of Rukka and Khunti in Jharkhand. They run with the idea of providing hassle-free education to children who are affected by Maoist-related violence.
Presently, the school in the Rukka area has 600 students, and the school in Khunti district has 200 students. The students receive free education and free food under the guidance of a caring mentor.
